শিলই ইউনিয়নের ইতিহাস

 

  • বাংলাদেশের প্রাচীনতম সহরের মধ্যে মুন্সিগঞ্জ অন্যতম, ব্রিটিশ সৃষ্ট জেলাগুলির মধ্যে একটি অন্যতম জেলা মুন্সিগঞ্জ। এই জেলার শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থায় রয়েছে বিশেষ কিছু বৈশিষ্ট্য। এক সময় মুন্সিগঞ্জ জেলায় বৃত্তি নির্ভর শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থার প্রচলন ছিল অর্থাৎ পাঠ্যপুস্তক নয় বরং প্রত্যেকে তাদের নিজ বৃত্তি অনুসারে সন্তানদের শিক্ষা দিত। সুলতানী আমলে মুসলমানদের স্বতন্ত্র শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থা অর্থাৎ মসজিদকেন্দ্রিক আরবী, ফরাসী ও ভাষা সাহিত্য শিক্ষাদান পদ্ধতি গড়ে উঠে। এসময়ে টোল, পাঠশালা ও মক্তবে বাংলা, সংস্কৃত ও গণিত শিক্ষার বিস্তার ঘটে। মুন্সিগঞ্জ জেলায় হিন্দু সম্প্রদায়ের মানুষ বেশি বসবাস করতেন, এই ইউনিয়নে হিন্দু সম্প্রদায়ের শীল বংশের আধিপত্য থাকার কারনে এই এলাকার নাম করন করা হয় শিলই।এই ইউনিয়নে হিন্দু মুসলমান সহ সকল ধর্ম বর্ণের মানুষ একত্রে বসবাস  করিতেছে।এখানকার বেশীরভাগ পরিবার কৃষি নির্ভরশীলএই ইউনিয়নে ধান, পাট, আলু, সরিষা ও মরিচ সহ বিভিন্ন রকম তরকারী ও শাকসবজি উৎপাদিত হয়।
